Yes.  The legal plan benefits can be used for in-court matters.

The Personal Legal Plan is only for personal legal matters.  However, we offer a Business Legal Plan that provides benefits for business related legal matters.  We also offer a Comprehensive Legal Plan that is designed for both personal and business legal matters.  View legal plan comparison

For matters that require additional assistance beyond the free legal services, it may be necessary to retain the attorney to represent you.  If additional assistance is necessary, the plan provides a reduced hourly rate. Court costs, filing fees and time charged for travel to-and-from any courts are additional.

Yes they can.  Upon completion of an initial consultation, you and your attorney may decide to proceed with further legal action.  In certain situations, attorney liability may require plan attorneys to ask for a retainer from the member prior to providing some of the free legal services.  This may be required because, when an attorney sends a letter or makes a phone call on your behalf, the attorney may be committed to respond to a follow up letter or phone call from the other party.

Legal matters can unexpectedly occur.  When a matter arises, how quickly you react can be critical.  Plus, taking advantage of the FREE Simple Will with FREE annual updates included in the plan, can cover the cost of the membership each year.

Our Attorneys – Questions & Answers

We have over 20,000 attorneys nationwide and in Puerto Rico.  We connect each member to a network attorney based on the requested area of law as close to their home or office as possible (generally within 30 miles).  Although some times an attorney can be located outside a member’s desired range, it is well worth the travel time if a member can save hundreds to thousands of dollars.  Keep in mind, most legal assistance can be handled over the phone by e-mail.

Our network attorneys are assigned based on the specific area of law, preferred language and location of the matter.

Yes.  The 20,000+ attorneys in our network have an average of 19.4 years of experience in the legal field.

Our network attorneys maintain professional liability insurance of $100,000 per incident and $300,000 aggregate (if required by their state) or at least the state-mandated minimums.

Yes.  You can change the attorney as often as you like.  Simply call Member Services to request a new attorney.

Yes.  The legal plans include phone and face-to-face consultations with live attorneys.  Since attorneys are often in deposition or court and as such they may not call back for two or three days.  Accepting a case is left to the personal judgement of the attorney.  The attorney may determine that the case lacks merit in which case, they are truly trying to save the member the time and money of pursuing a potential losing case.  In this situation, members should contact Member Services and request another attorney.  They may use as many plan member attorneys as they like.  Results with the next attorney could differ.
